Engine mounts are filters between source and chassis

An engine mount is a mechanical filter.

The engine creates periodic force and moment inputs. The mount system decides how much of that input is transmitted into the chassis, at which frequencies, and in which directions.

This separates two questions: what vibration does the engine generate, and what vibration does the vehicle structure actually feel?
