Production fit beats email provider rank
Mailjet ranked behind Mailtrap and Resend for transactional email, and I still chose it for production.
That is not a contradiction. A generic ranking compares features; a production decision tests fit.
Mailjet worked with Listmonk, accepted my authenticated sending domain, and later powered double opt-in, welcome drips, bounce events, unsubscribes, and the do-not-send list.
The first messages landing in Gmail spam were a warning to finish the domain and reputation work, not proof that the integration was useless.
SPF and DKIM were necessary, but a 200 response was still not proof of inbox delivery.
The European angle also mattered: Mailjet has deep European roots and stores customer data in EU data centres.
That is a better fit for an EU-facing stack, even if another API looks nicer in isolation.
This connects back to content marketing: social reach is rented attention.
The useful system turns some of that attention into a consented audience that can be reached again.
Mailjet was not the theoretical winner; it was the provider that completed that loop.
